WordPress for BlackBerry is available in the App World: http://appworld.blackberry.com/webstore/content/5802.
For those who could not download using Appworld the easiest way is to point your mobile browser at the “Over-The-Air” installation link.
A quick note for Storm users . If you’re seeing UI problems such as unresponsiveness to the accelerometer, poor layout with large buttons, or strange focus behaviour, the most likely explanation is the compatibility mode. You need to run the app with Compatibility mode OFF. (Go to option-> Advanced options-> Application. Select the WordPress app from the list, push the menu button and select “Disable the compatibility mode”).

When navigating to http://www.blackberry.wordpress.org/install
i got a timed out error.
When I removed the www. it worked.
Use http://blackberry.wordpress.org/install without www in it. I made the same error and realized the hard way
I’m using a Blackberry Curve 8320. after i’ve entered the address http://blackberry.wordpress.org/install i hit enter and i keep getting a message that says: “HTTP Error 504: Gateway Timeout.”
@xerxesnine — no known issues with the download link. Sounds like a connection issues on your blackberry. Are you able to reach other sites like google.com ?
I had the same problem at first but make sure you do not have “WWW” infront of blackberry and that should solve your problem.

Very nice app for my berry

Had the same 504 Error as xerxesnine. Turned out I had typed the address in incorrectly. Be sure to remove the “www” that the Blackberry browser inserts and be sure that you are using .org and not .com.

I have the same problem as @K. The only way for this app to communicate successfully is to switch back to the default theme, connect with the app, and change back to your usual theme. The problem is that I get a “Malformed blog response” errors after that. How can I get my theme (Thesis) to play nice with this app? TIA

Ok I REALLY wish I could get this app to work on my curve. But I keep getting this error message: The application WordPress has attempted to open a connection to a location inside the firewall and outside the firewall which is not allowed by your IT policy.
Ok why hasn’t ANYONE posted any troubleshooting issues and solutions on this site ? !!!!!!!! I am so frustrated that I am about to just forget the whole damn thing !!!!!!

I’m downloading the wordpress for bb now. I’m excited to see how it will work.
so i clicked on “add blog” when i opened the wordpress app. I typed in “http://www.katrinadavid.wordpress.com” where i says URL. then i typed in my username and password. i clicked ok. and it says
“we could not find the xmlrpc endpoint of your blog, please insert the complete url below.
ex:http://example.com/some-folder/xmlrpc.php
url http://”
so i typed my url again and clicked “yes”
and now it says:
“a server communications error occured.
no route to blog”
?????
i don’t know what else i’m supposed to do!?!
@Katrina David – have you looked at your connection settings ? Click “Setup” when in the WordPress app – and see what’s selected and try tweaking that.

I have got it downloaded and installed however when I goto add a blog I find it very difficult to navigate the setup screen… so far I have only been able to enter the url and the username… for the life of me I haven’t been able to get the password entered.

Hmmmm, back to the basics for me. When I enter http://blackberry.wordpress.org/install I am prompted to open or download a JAD file and my computer asks me with which application should I open it (and I cant find any that will). I have tried to save it on my hard drive and then use the blackberry desktop manager/application loader to pick it up but it does not recognize the file. Any tips?

I get the SAME error on my blackberry 8830. First of all this is not a corporate blackberry, it’s my own. I typed in my blog URL and get the error “The application WordPress has attempted to open a connection to a location inside the firewall and outside the firewall which is not allowed by your IT policy.” Then this screen will not go away when I click ‘ok’.

Odd, I’ve tried several ways on my Blackberry curve to install by pointing the Blackberry browser to:
http://blackberry.wordpress.org/install
and I consistently get a 404 error. I am not prompted for file download or installation. Tried linkage via browser and manual entry of the URL.
This may have something to do with the redirection to http://blackberry.svn.wordpress.org which is what I see if I use my Firefox browser on my PC.
Seems it is FUBAR at the moment for Blackberry

When performing an application installation over the wireless network, the BlackBerry device user may be prompted to restart the BlackBerry device for the install to complete. The application developer has minimal influence over whether or not a reset is required.
OutOfMemory error on install. Run again and it says verification errors. Alternates these two error messages and WON’T open. BB Tour on Verizon network.

BlackBerry Device Software (OS) Version 4.2.1 is the minimum required.
Yes, works great on my 9630! Make sure you get the newest version (should work from this link). If you get any “OutOfMemoryError” messages, be sure to backup your berry through Blackberry desktop manager and do a battery pull!

I give up, I am not a developer, I am a blogger. All of these instructions are like greek to me. May be a good app, I just can’t get past the xmlrpc endpoint error. Nothing on the faq or forums helps, I don’t know where to find any of this. I’ll just go back to using my desktop and forget the blackberry app.

hi, I just got my blackberry bold and downloaded wordpress. Everything went fine but now when I click on the icon it doesnt do anything. I cant get it open. I tried to delete it and reinstalled but it’s the same. Any idea what to do? Thanks

I think you can try two things : the soft reboot, and if it does not work, the hard reboot.
note: Make sure that permissions are set correctly. (On your BlackBerry, go to “Options > Advanced Options > Applications”. Scroll through the list and highlight and select “WordPress for BlackBerry”. Next, click on the app, and choose Edit Permissions and ensure they are set to “Allow”).

I’m not too satisfied. This app does not work in landscape mode for the Storm 9530. It takes too long to type in the portrait keypad and using a QWERTY keypad in landscape mode is far too cramped.
Maybe I’ll reconsider if it’s updated to work with landscape mode.
@Nick Chevalier — did you set the “RotationLock” to OFF for the WordPress app. (RotationLock adds a menu item to all application on your device which will either allow you to “Unlock Screen” and “Lock Screen”).

soooooo not happy with this app…I downloaded and everything went fine…Didn’t like the fact that i couldn’t use my side view and full keyboard with the app, but i thought ” I can get past this” noooooo…first time i tried to do a test blog and it froze my storm for 5 mins…i eventually had to shut BB off and do a battery pull. i am deleteing app today!!!
