I’m using a Blackberry Curve 8320. after i’ve entered the address http://blackberry.wordpress.org/install i hit enter and i keep getting a message that says: “HTTP Error 504: Gateway Timeout.”
@xerxesnine — no known issues with the download link. Sounds like a connection issues on your blackberry. Are you able to reach other sites like google.com ?
Had the same 504 Error as xerxesnine. Turned out I had typed the address in incorrectly. Be sure to remove the “www” that the Blackberry browser inserts and be sure that you are using .org and not .com.
I have the same problem as @K. The only way for this app to communicate successfully is to switch back to the default theme, connect with the app, and change back to your usual theme. The problem is that I get a “Malformed blog response” errors after that. How can I get my theme (Thesis) to play nice with this app? TIA
Ok I REALLY wish I could get this app to work on my curve. But I keep getting this error message: The application WordPress has attempted to open a connection to a location inside the firewall and outside the firewall which is not allowed by your IT policy.
Ok why hasn’t ANYONE posted any troubleshooting issues and solutions on this site ? !!!!!!!! I am so frustrated that I am about to just forget the whole damn thing !!!!!!
There are no instructions on which settings to choose in the set up section either.
@jason – take a look at the faq here: http://blackberry.wordpress.org/faq/, there are instructions for: “Q: I receive the following error: “The application WordPress has attempted to open a connection to a location inside the firewall and outside the firewall which is not allowed by your IT policy.” How do I fix that ?”
so i clicked on “add blog” when i opened the wordpress app. I typed in “http://www.katrinadavid.wordpress.com” where i says URL. then i typed in my username and password. i clicked ok. and it says
“we could not find the xmlrpc endpoint of your blog, please insert the complete url below.
ex:http://example.com/some-folder/xmlrpc.php
url http://”
so i typed my url again and clicked “yes”
and now it says:
“a server communications error occured.
no route to blog”
@Katrina David – have you looked at your connection settings ? Click “Setup” when in the WordPress app – and see what’s selected and try tweaking that.
Is it true, that the application couldn’t work on T-Mobile BB? Ohh, please develop the program. Now, I only can write a draft. For submit it, I still have to work it from my desktop
I have got it downloaded and installed however when I goto add a blog I find it very difficult to navigate the setup screen… so far I have only been able to enter the url and the username… for the life of me I haven’t been able to get the password entered.
I am using a BlackBerry Storm 9530 with 4.7 OS installed any help would be greatly appreciated
Hmmmm, back to the basics for me. When I enter http://blackberry.wordpress.org/install I am prompted to open or download a JAD file and my computer asks me with which application should I open it (and I cant find any that will). I have tried to save it on my hard drive and then use the blackberry desktop manager/application loader to pick it up but it does not recognize the file. Any tips?
I get the SAME error on my blackberry 8830. First of all this is not a corporate blackberry, it’s my own. I typed in my blog URL and get the error “The application WordPress has attempted to open a connection to a location inside the firewall and outside the firewall which is not allowed by your IT policy.” Then this screen will not go away when I click ‘ok’.
@jennifer
the URL of your blog, that you should insert in the app, is http://www.quantcandy.com/blog/
Regarding the IT policy issue, there is a procedure that can remove an IT Policy from your phone (start a seach over the net for that).
Keep getting a 404 or “network timed out” when trying to download. I have tried with & witout the www. Still unable to download. I am able to view other websites. Any suggestions?
@Bashar
When performing an application installation over the wireless network, the BlackBerry device user may be prompted to restart the BlackBerry device for the install to complete. The application developer has minimal influence over whether or not a reset is required.
OutOfMemory error on install. Run again and it says verification errors. Alternates these two error messages and WON’T open. BB Tour on Verizon network.
@Danilo. Thanks mate, much respect and appreciation. I’ve never used the desktop manager or the materials that came with my berry. Gotta dig all that up. Wish me luck.
You’ve no idea how excited I was to discover this app! I’m really looking forward to each release to see where it all goes, but even the basics available now are awesome and a HUGE benefit for my clients and I!
Thank you!

Yes, works great on my 9630! Make sure you get the newest version (should work from this link). If you get any “OutOfMemoryError” messages, be sure to backup your berry through Blackberry desktop manager and do a battery pull!
Feel free to contact me, or leave me a message on my wordpress to get more info.
Have been waiting for this FOREVER. THANK YOU! Will try it out immediately…
Finally!
Going to try this out on my curve as soon as possible!
Thanks
Might place BIS-T support in the next version of WordPress for BlackBerry
I’ve been waiting for this!! Wow… You’re ROCKS!!
Thank you!!
Downlod failed ? Why ?
most likely a network issue. Can you try again and let us know, thanks.
I had the same issue.
When navigating to http://www.blackberry.wordpress.org/install
i got a timed out error.
When I removed the www. it worked.

I had the same problem at first but make sure you do not have “WWW” infront of blackberry and that should solve your problem.
I don’t know what it was but I’ve got it downloaded now. Thanks.
I’ve since been able to download the app. thanks.
Thanks!
Very nice app for my berry
no route to blog apparently, given it exact location of the xmlrpc.php file.
Installed in 5 minute or less on my BB Tour. This is NICE! will let you know if i come across any issues. THANK YOU!
Thank you!!! this will be a HUGE help!

@whiskytrail – you should point your blackberry browser at http://blackberry.wordpress.org/install – not your desktop PC/Mac.

Odd, I’ve tried several ways on my Blackberry curve to install by pointing the Blackberry browser to:
http://blackberry.wordpress.org/install
and I consistently get a 404 error. I am not prompted for file download or installation. Tried linkage via browser and manual entry of the URL.
This may have something to do with the redirection to http://blackberry.svn.wordpress.org which is what I see if I use my Firefox browser on my PC.
Seems it is FUBAR at the moment for Blackberry
@wattsupwiththat
looks to have been related to new WordPress mobile theme launch – http://wp.me/pf2B5-Jd – should be all better now.

If you have problems with OTA installation, you can use this link and install the app with the BlackBerry Desktop manager.

Will this work on the blackberry tour 9630?
@jen smith —
the app should work fine also on the Tour.
BlackBerry Device Software (OS) Version 4.2.1 is the minimum required.
