I downloaded the update and it says I can’t add my bloh because there is already a bloh with that name. What does that mean?

      1. Danilo

@nikkibubby — did you had older versions installed on your device?
Click “Setup” when in the WordPress app and hit the button “Remove” inside the “Cache Files Options” box.
This will delete all the files that are currently stored in your cache. Then restart the app and add your blogs again.

How/what exactly are comment notifications? I don’t see any explanation anywhere, so I’m leery of enabling it on my phone.

    1. Raanan Bar-Cohen

@chris — it notifies you when a new comment is awaiting moderation. You can see the setting from this screenshot: http://blackberry.wordpress.org/2010/03/17/version-1-1/blackberry-wordpress-04/

      1. Chris

Thanks for the quick reply, Raanan. I saw the photo of the settings page, but there is still little information on how the notification look/work.

  17. Max

I upgraded to the new version [1.1]. When I opened it, my blog was deleted and the following messaged popped up:

“The folder 10d974d9bc537fb119426021e52ea7fb/ is corrupted. Please delete it”

When I try to setup my blog, it tells me the blog already exists.

I uninstalled, and reinstalled the application to no avail. Is there anything that I can do to fix this.

    1. Danilo

@Max– you can delete the corrupted blog following the steps below:

      1. close the app
      2. Open the Media application on the BlackBerry
      3. Press the Menu button and choose Explore.
      4. Navigate to folder //store/home/user/wordpress/ or SDCard/home/user/wordpress/
      5. select the folder 0d974d9bc537fb119426021e52ea7fb/
      6. Press the Menu button and choose Delete.
      7. start the app and add your blog again

  20. xenoactive

Is there any way to permanently disable the GPS access? I am prompted to set the application permissions at each startup. Otherwise the apps works well.

    1. Danilo

@xenoactive — go to “Options > Advanced Options > Applications”. Scroll through the list and highlight and select “WordPress for BlackBerry”. Next, click on the app, and choose Edit Permissions and ensure that the permission for gps is set to “Deny”.

  21. James Woodson IV

Can someone explain for the geotagging, location feature workd? I have selected the option to provide my loaction, but im not noticing anything. Any feedback or help would be greatly appreciated.

    1. Danilo

@James Woodson IV — WordPress.com sites allow you to geotag your posts (that means you can assign an earthly location to each of your posts). Within the mobile app, the Location feature allows you to selectively add location information to your posts. This feature is off by default and you will need to opt-in to use it. The location information that is shared publicly can be either your exact location (your coordinates) or your place (like a neighborhood or town).

  22. Lu

This Blackberry app just keeps getting better and better. I wonder what updates are next for this app?

    1. Danilo

@Lu — We are working on some new features, such as photo rotation opt, a new GUI for touch devices and integration of the WordPress.com stats.
We discuss our development plans and progress on our development blog. We invite you to join the discussion there.

  23. Tim Pies

Hey there. I just added the app to my Curve 8900. I can’t seem to get it to work. It keeps telling me I have no permission to manage posts or pages (or something quite similar to that message.) Since I just started using WordPress itself, is there ay assistance you can throw my way? My only guess is that it may taje a little time for everything to sync with the website? I have installed, deleted, and reinstalled the app a least four times in the past two hours to try to get it to function. But I can’t wait to get it working :) Thanks!

    1. Danilo

@Tim Pies — Try to refresh your blog clicking on the item “Refresh”. you should get a detailed information about the issue.
if your issue still there, could you post to the forums?

  24. Ward

I just installed the app on my Verizon Tour and it works great (almost). When I try and check the box for ‘Add Location’ on a blog post it goes to a screen that says ‘Finding Location’ and then a couple of seconds later gives me a GPS timeout error.

I have tried a couple of other 3rd party apps and the geotagging within them works very well.

Any ideas on what to do to fix the problem?

    1. Danilo

@Ward — make certain that GPS is enabled on the device (in Options).
Then, make sure that permissions are set correctly. On your BlackBerry, go to “Options > Advanced Options > Applications”.
Scroll through the list and highlight and select “WordPress for BlackBerry”. Next, click on the app, and choose Edit Permissions and ensure that “Location Data” is set to “Allow”.

  25. Ward

I posted details on the forum as well. Some oddities:

On my phone there is no ‘applications’ within ‘advanced options’

    My only choice is Options->Applications.

Within that there is nowhere I can find a permission for ‘Location Data’ – I am presented with:
    connections
    interactions
    user data
I have set all of these to ‘Allow’

If I expand connections I can find ‘Location Data’ but it is set to Allow as well

  26. donna_m

I have installed version 1.1 and have issues – it shows all four of my blogs but only three by name – the fourth shows up in the bar, but no name on it. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app, as well as deleting that particular blog and reinstalling the blog to no avail.

i am not getting notifications of comments – i am via my email notification but not any way else – but i’m not sure i’m supposed to?

also.. the most maddening. i’ve done two blog entries via this app on my blackberry and saved as draft – then i’ve tried to come to my blog on web and finish the draft but its not here. i’m not sure if this is the way its supposed to be or just a glitch for me? personally, i hope its a glitch. thanks.

    1. Danilo

@donna_m — just create your new post with status “draft”, and send it to the blog. (menu -> submit).
If you save the post as phone draft using the menu > save, you haven’t changed anything on your blog until you hit menu > submit.
You should send it to the blog.(menu -> submit), this will remove the draft from phone drafts folder, place it in your posts folder, and make it available when you log in from the desktop.

Regarding the notification, you should enable it using the notification configuration screen “menu -> notifications” when in home screen.

  27. Red Souldier

Is this app can set to only connect using bis?

    1. Danilo

@Red Souldier — you can access connection settings clicking “Setup” when in the WordPress app home screen.

  28. Rafael Murta

    Hi!
What about the version 1.2 avaiable at App World since 12.05.2010?
Any change log ou release notes?
    What’s the news?
    Thank you.

    1. Danilo

@Rafael Murta — You can read the announcement post for full details.

  29. Sean F.

I have set my permissions to “allow” for location data, yet still I get “timed out while waiting for GPS Location” every single time I try to use it. What is up with that? GPS works fine on other apps I have…

    1. Danilo

@Sean F. — have you looked at your GPS settings ?
Click “Setup” when in the WordPress app – and see what’s selected in the GPS box. Try tweaking that, using Internal GPS or Cell Towers Location system.

      1. Marilyn

Autonomous GPS worked for me. Thanks for the tip!
